Upcoming accession with European Union requires from Poland that all negotiation areas be finally completed. One of such areas is an area of competition. The problem therein consists of preparation and implementation of a complex, coherent and logical restructuring programme for Polish steel industry which would conform to provisions of the European Treaty and especially to the Protocol No. 2 thereof. Such programme should facilitate modernisation of Polish steel industry to finally ensure its competitive functioning in conditions of an open-economy market with its adaptation to European steel industry.
