The National Energy Policy assumptions revised at the beginning of the year 2002 provide, inter alia, for acceleration of actions enabling rapid development of competition, firstly in the power sector. In pursuance of this objective the Government has undertaken a number of efforts, both in assessing the broad-based transformation process taking place in the sector and forwarding the same sector’s transition into a market-driven structure. Conclusions coming out of this work found their expression in a document entitled Updated Programme for Introduction of a Competitive Electrical Energy Market in Poland, adopted by the Council of Ministers on 28 January 2003.
