Since the World Exhibition opened on 14 June 2008, Polish exposition has already been visited by almost 100,000 people, that is about 4.5 thousand tourists a day. Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Waldemar Pawlak participated in the Polish Day at Expo 2008 in Saragossa, and he opened the Polish-Spanish conference entitled “Polish Regions - Spanish Regions”.

On 6 July 2008, the Deputy Prime Minister attended the inauguration ceremony of the Polish Day at EXPO 2008. Together with Polish President Lech Kaczyński and the government representatives, Minister Pawlak visited the Polish Pavilion, where he watched a multimedia presentation showing Poland’s greatest assets. The up-to-date technology and artistic animations made the presentation a memorable experience for the audience.

On 7 July 2008, Monday, Waldemar Pawlak and the President of Aragon, Marcelino Iglesias opened an economic conference related to Polish and Spanish regional cooperation, entitled “Polish Regionsv - Spanish Regions”. Minister Pawlak encouraged the Spaniards to make investments in our country. “Poland is one of the most stable countries in Central Europe, producing 40% of total GDP of the region”, stressed Waldemar Pawlak, and added that Spanish investments in Poland constituted only 7% of all foreign investments in our country, and that service market might be a promising area of cooperation. Polish and Spanish talks covered also the strategies for regions development and promotion, and focused on obtaining European funds and on renewable energy.

The conference was also attended by the Minister of Environment, Maciej Nowicki and the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, Patrycja Wolińska.

“Create and Care” is the Polish motto at EXPO 2008, suggesting that the environment can be transformed to meet the human needs in a non-invasive and harmonious way, protecting the natural resources. The World Exhibition in Saragossa lasts until 14 September 2008.
