”Since Poland joined the EU, we have observed an increase in trade exchange with Spain by over 64%. In 2007, the turnover for the first time exceeded 5 billion Euro“, said the Deputy Minister of Economy, Adam Szejnfeld, during the meeting with Polish-Spanish Parliamentary Group at the Sejm on 10 July 2008.
The Deputy Minister pointed out that in the first three months of 2008, mutual trade turnover exceeded 1.5 billion Euro. ”The construction and energy sectors are of greatest interest among Spanish investors in Poland“, explained Minister Szejnfeld, adding that our country should draw on Spanish experience in developing infrastructure and energy, renewable energy in particular.

The Deputy Minister Szejnfeld emphasized that EXPO 2008 in Saragossa provided an excellent opportunity to establish closer business contacts. ”The Polish pavilion enjoys much interest.Since mid-June it has been visited by almost 100 thousand persons“, stressed the Minister. He added that the Polish Day at EXPO and the Polish-Spanish conference "Polish Regions - Spanish Regions" took place last weekend. ”In Saragossa we promote our country also through visits of Polish politicians.Recently, the Deputy Prime Minister Waldemar Pawlak has visited the EXPO and accompanied by the Prime Minister of Aragon he attended the economic conference”, said Adam Szejnfeld. During the conference the representatives of both countries discussed also the strategies for regions development and promotion, they focused on obtaining European funds and on renewable energy.

In the opinion of Minister Szejnfeld, the cooperation with Spain should also be oriented towards the use of established good contacts in mutual efforts to increase Polish economic activity in Latin America.

The automotive industry products (engines, automotive accessories) and electronic appliances (TV-sets, computer panels) are the goods dominating in our export to Spain. Vehicles, aircrafts, machines and mechanic equipment, electric equipment, as well as base metals and their products were the main goods in the Polish import in 2007.
