Bilateral Economic Cooperation Department
Department of Economic Bilateral Cooperation is responsible for the issues related to organisation and coordination of economic cooperation with:
- countries associated in The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) - the international alliance, consisting of 12 former Soviet Republics: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan,
- other non-European countries.
Taking into consideration the above mentioned geographical competencies, the Department’s tasks include in particular:
- analysis of economic conditions, tendencies and prospects, as well as economic policy of particular countries, with regard to their influence on economic relations with Poland;
- preparing assumptions and directions for the development of economic relations with Poland's economic partners as well as current management of economic relations with those countries;
- preparing and negotiating bilateral agreements on economic cooperation as well as bilateral agreements on promotion and reciprocal protection of investments;
- participation in preparing and negotiating other bilateral economic agreements in cooperation with other departments;
- preparing sessions of bilateral intergovernmental commissions, committees and working groups, as well as consultations on economic issues;
- describing and providing tasks for Economic Sections of Polish Embassies and General Consulates, as well as participating in assessment of their activity in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
- participation in projects related to the economic aspects of Polish membership in the Council of the Baltic Sea States as well as economic cooperation in the framework of Polish membership in the Central European Initiative;
- participation in reviews of economies of OECD Member States (with the exception of Poland and countries in competency of the Department of European Affairs);
- coordination of issues concerning cross-border cooperation with Russia, Belarus and Ukraine;
- coordination of issues relatet to participation in projects financed in the framework of European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI).
