The Ministry is an institution providing service for the Minister, i.e. enabling his execution of duties related to the entrusted issues. According to the division of govermental administration, Minister of Economy is in charge of the issues connected with the Polish economy.
The duties of the Minister reflect in the internal ministry organization – this is divided into departments which deal with certain issues within the scope of its competence (e.g. Department of Economic Regulations) The Ministry is directly managed by the Minister, contrary to other institutions which are subordinated to him.
The Ministry is managed by the Minister with the help of Secretary of State and Undersecretaries of State (called unofficially vice-ministers). They form a political management of the Ministry. The highest non-political officer is General Manager. He executes a direct supervision over the organizational units of the ministry and provides a proper execution of tasks indicated by the Minister. He also guarantees the functioning and continuity of work of the Office during the changes of governmental team.
Internal organization of the Ministry results from the division of work in the management. Each member of the management is responsible for certain topic area and supervises the work of the subordinated to him organizational units – departments and offices, managed by Directors.
